Midwestern Rewilding is an official 501c(3) and we have successfully set up an account for donations. Our donations can be tax deductible.
Any donation is welcome (a packet of seeds is less than $5!). The money will be used to work towards our purpose of promoting environmental conversation, preservation, and rewilding efforts within the Midwest.
Smaller quantities of money will be used to buy seed packets, flyers, and other materials to continue the seed stand project. However, we hope to expand Midwestern Rewilding to growing seedlings, supporting community projects, and contributing to events that raise awareness.
Growing seedlings would give community members an easier start to their prairies. Instead of encouraging others to plant our seeds and hope for the best, by growing seedlings we can be assured the plants will be present. Growing seedling requires UV lamps, trays, soil, and the seeds themselves. All of which require money.
As discussed in this post, Midwestern Rewilding has been expanding its community engagement. One project that we would love to pursue is engaging elementary students in creating native prairies. We would buy pots and soil, teach students to sow native seeds, and educate them on the importance of native plants. Depending on the school, the students could either start a prairie at their school or bring their flowers home.
