On February 20th, I will be helping a few 3rd grade classes at Longfellow to grow native seeds! Through this project I will be assisting in the growth of a new native prairie and inspiring future native gardeners.
The plan for the morning is to give a presentation on what native plants are, their importance, and the process of growing seeds. Then, the students will implement what they learn through sowing their own seeds. We picked purple coneflower and bee balm as they are easy to grow and do not need stratification.
